So now they should all be at 6 if you go back and look (you don’t have to). Once you get inside the cave, pull all three totems down all the way. Notice also that each goes up to 6 at the very top. You need to know them before you enter the cave. These are the symbols for the three totem poles. Part 4, Third Planet (Or Fourth if the the log is a planet):Īchievements: Hermit Crabs, Crab Pyramid, Sputnik, Centipede, Cave Bats It's only 2.5 from me.Bug antennas in the comet to access the keyhole:Īchievements: Cicadas, Mimicking Parrot, Sleeping Parrot, Saint Termite, Dancing Fungus, Spiral Smoke I think it's rare to get a point and click adventure that is this original and imaginative. I was totally won over by this game, Bajo. Thanks Darren! What are you going to give this overall, Hex? It was a good one because it had clear logic to it! What about the puzzle with the little animations on those playing cards? Swapping the order around to make the story play out differently. It felt like there was so much wandering back and forth to figure things out. In fact, I'd love some screenshots of this game mounted on my wall as big posters.Īs artistic as it all is, I have to admit I got more and more impatient with this game. What are you saying, DARREN? Are you saying I'm not keen? I'm not observant? I'm not skillful? The game does require keen observation skills. I think it sums up what a lot of these puzzles are like, sometimes you don't even know what it is you're trying to do and you just click until something happens! You have to make an egg travel through these tubes to a specific insect, but it felt like so much trial and error trying to hit upon the right combination of clicks. One planet I got really stuck on though was this hive of bugs. It seems to involve some big scary space monsters? Yeah, there's also a comic book of sorts in the game's menu that tells a bit of the story of what's happening in this bizarre universe, so you can get an idea of what your pixie guy is ultimately trying to achieve. I did like that if get really stuck on a puzzle, the game has a strange tome of hints that you can look at, which actually requires solving a puzzle to open! But, once unlocked, it can help you figure out what you need to do to progress. This can sometimes be a clue to a solution, or a solution itself, but music in general does play a large part in the puzzles. The way they've used sound is really clever.Īffirmative! Your space pixie has a trumpet that can be used to mimic musical sounds you hear in the world. Clicking around these alien places started to become a fun journey of mystery. The graphics are so beautiful, like a storybook, and the music is really charming. I think some Spawnlings may want to play this with a grown up at the ready, have that brains trust on standby to help out!Įven though I WAS frustrated at first, I eventually started to succumb to the game's really magical atmosphere. One or two easier puzzles up front would have really helped. I got pretty frustrated trying to make sense of things like that weird galloping alien horse or the bridge with the control box that would NEVER line up. It certainly makes the otherworldly alien atmosphere super effective! I think it's fair to say the puzzles in Samorost 3 are very strange and while there is logic to the solutions, it's purposely vague as to what it is you're trying to solve, and even how you're meant to interact with the world. but guys, even figuring out that this was the first thing I needed to do, was so hard! I was wandering from screen to screen and clicking on all the things. Your first task is to build a space ship so you escape to explore other moons and planets. In Samorost 3, you play as some sort of little white space pixie living on a weird floating rock with other strange creatures. This dev studio also made the excellent Machinarium, so if you liked that game, you might want to check this out. This is the third game in the series from Amanita Design, but the first one to be in proper HD, and to be a proper full length game. Alright guys, time for the PC puzzling Samorost 3.
